Next Saturday is National Trails Day, making it the perfect day for the Clear Clear Trail Community Walk.

To help raise much needed funds for the trail’s development and maintenance, the Clear Creek Task Force is hosting the event at 10 a.m., on June 4.

The walk will begin at the Clear Creek Interpretive Center on Bucklin Hill Road. Participants have an option to donate or raise $25 per walker or family.

“We really need financial support to maintain the trail,” said Coreen Haydock Johnson, administrator for the Clear Creek Task Force. “Fund-raising is becoming more difficult for us with so much competition these days.”

National Trails Day is a nationwide celebration sponsored by the American Hiking Association to encourage and promote healthy exercise.

“Their emphasis is on health and walking the trail is a good healthy exercise,” she said. “We really want to get people out to celebrate.”

In conjunction with the main event, the task force also is hosting two work parties from 8-10 a.m. and from 1-3 p.m. for those who would like to help improve the trail.
