This is just the beginning.
That is the message from Tony Neal, team recruitment chair for Central Kitsap Relay For Life, following this years event Saturday and Sunday at Bremerton Memorial Stadium.
The relay has shown tremendous growth in the past two years, he said. The event raised more than $100,000 for the first time last year and should reach between $175,000 and $180,000 this year when all contributions are collected, according to Neal.
The official donation total stood at $147,482 at the end of the weekend. Neal said at the very least he had another $3,000 to turn in after running a whopping 55 miles for the cause.
Neal had hoped to get to the $200,000 mark this year but in other respects, we exceeded our goals, he said. Were thanking (participants) right now. And people are contacting me telling me they want to start a team.
Neal said 52 teams attended the event, with three more registered.
