Drill for the aged
June 11, 2008 · Updated 1:54 PM
Residents of Crista Shores, the Silverdale retirement home, evacuated the building on Wednesday after fire alarms sounded but it was only practice.
Firefighters and paramedics from Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue (CKFR) assisted in the fire drill and provided suggestions for improvement.
The folks here at Crista Shores are real pro-active when it comes to safety, CKFR fire inspector Bill Minks said.
Per fire code requirements, the facility must practice fire drills every three months, he said.
CKFR participates in local fire drills about four to five times a year mainly where there there are large concentrations of people including Harrison Hospital Silverdale, local schools and other retirement homes including Golden Tides on Bayshore Drive.
