Rough roads ahead for nighttime drivers

Anyone who frequents Kitsap Mall or Ridgetop boulevards during evening and nighttime hours should find a different route in the upcoming weeks.
The county Public Works Departments road crews are ready to begin a two-week-long repaving project along the two popular roadways starting at midnight on Monday, Aug. 1.
Most of the paving will be done at night so it has the least impact on motorists, said Public Works spokeswoman Callene Abernathy.
The work is being divided into three parts spread out over the next two weeks.
From midnight Aug. 1 until 8:30 a.m., Kitsap Mall Boulevard between Randall Way and Silverdale Way will be closed to all but emergency traffic for grinding and pre-leveling. That work will continue at 8 p.m. that night until 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Aug. 2. Depending on weather, the crew will begin repaving the road during the early morning hours of Aug. 3 and finish up on Aug. 4.
