Low-key election generates very little interest

The candidate pool is in for the 2005 election and juding by the amount of candidates, it’s more suited for wading than diving.

Granted it’s an off-year for an election cycle, with no partisan positions on the ballot, but that shouldn’t have kept interest this low.

Out of the 10 CK-centric positions on the ballot, only one — Silverdale Water District Commissioner Position 3 — has any reason to be on September’s Primary Ballot since it’s the only one to have three candidates involved in Bob Bjornemo, incumbent Marcus Hoffman and John R. Poppe.

A pair of election losses in trying to raise construction funds would’ve seemingly brought out a plethora of would-be candidates for the pair of CK School District Board of Director positions. That proved to not be the case as incumbents Bruce Richards (District 1) and LeeAnn Powers (District 5) are unchallenged for their second four-year terms.
