With a bid of more than $400 million, EJB Facilities Services of Arlington, Va., was awarded the base operations support contract for naval base services in Kitsap and Jefferson counties.

The U.S. Navy recently announced the awarded contract for support services that include Naval Base Kitsap, Keyport, Jackson Park, Naval Magazine Indian Island and Naval Hospital Bremerton. The current contractor, IAP Worldwide Services Inc., which recently purchased Johnson Controls World Services Inc., will end its operations on Sept. 30.

“The Navy has undergone significant organizational changes in the last few years to become more efficient in how it manages shore installations,” said Rick Huling, Navy Region Northwest spokesman. “A new contract was necessary to address changing work requirements. It also makes it possible to better adjust to fluctuations in funding.”
