Flu shots recommended for people in high risk

Despite assurances that flu vaccine shortages should not occur this year, recently both the state health department and the Kitsap County Health District issued public notices recommending high-risk individuals receive immunization right away.

Vaccines are available to anyone older than 65; children 6 to 23 months of age; children and adults with chronic medical conditions; residents of nursing homes or long-term care facilities; pregnant women; people, such as health-care providers, living with or caring for a high-risk person; and people who live with or care for children from birth to 6 months of
