The $200,000 planning grant that was recieved by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife this spring to upgrade the Misery Point boat launch is providing just that — planning and preliminary engineering.

Once the planning is complete the department still needs funds to construct a new boat launch. Construction is not expected to begin until at least early 2007.

“We’re more in the process of doing the engineering,” said Sue Patnude of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. “The first phase is just to do engineering work.”
