PORT ORCHARD — Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 14-year-old Silverdale teen at his home Wednesday night in connection with last week’s accidental shooting of another teen.

Authorities are withholding the teen’s name, noting only that he was booked into juvenile detention on charges of third-degree assault and reckless endangerment. According to reports, the victim, 14, is currently listed in stable condition at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma where he underwent surgery to repair damages caused by a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Detectives recovered the 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, which reportedly belongs to the father of the arrested teen, following the shooting on the afternoon of March 16 in Silverdale’s Woodcrest neighborhood. They said there were two other teens in the house who left before the single shot was fired. Their ongoing investigation also revealed the teen had been intentionally pointing the pistol at others inside the home.
