Silent auction a first for Clear Creek Trail

Let the bidding begin.
Looking for a creative and interactive way to raise funds for the Clear Creek Trail, supporters found it in the form of a Support Your Trail silent auction. Going on now through National Trails Day, Saturday, June 3, the auction is open to the general public.
Its off to not a bad start, said Clear Creek Task Force Administrator Coreen Johnson.
A variety of prizes mainly donated by task force members are up for bid including lunch with the Kitsap County commissioners, framed art, a six-hour sailing trip, a horseback camping trip, two hours estate planning with attorney Phil Best, two hours of boom truck services with Dean Enebo, a Kitsap County Fair & Stampede package and more. A complete list of auction items can be found at www.centralkitsapreporter.com.
Bids may be entered via e-mail at clearcreektrail@yahoo.com or in person at the Clear Creek/Saqad Interpretive Center, located at 9641 Levin Road, during open days May 14, 17, 20, 24, 28, 31 and June 3. Bidding closes at 2 p.m. June 3.
This is a first, Johnson said of the silent auction. In 13 years weve not done an e-mail auction. Were hoping it will increase the opportunity for people to bid on items.
Johnson will periodically e-mail bid reports to those bidding via e-mail and will have bid sheets posted at the Interpretive Center on open days.
Another way the task force is raising funds as part of National Trails Day is through its first ever community rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 3 in the former Courtesy Automart parking lot at the corner of Silverdale Way and Bucklin Hill Road. Task force members will be at the location from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 1 to collect good, usable items.
Were also looking for volunteers for those days, Johnson said.
