Free fingerprinting for kids set for Saturday

On Sept. 7, Kitsap County Safeway stores will partner with Freedom 13, a local husband and wife duo who work with local groups to fight against child trafficking.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as an awareness campaign to educate families about child abduction and to provide them with resources to prevent harm to children.

Freedom 13 will offer free fingerprint kits and “safe child” coloring books.

The Bremerton Police Department recommends parents keep updated fingerprint kids in case their child ever goes missing.

The kit can be given to police and the fingerprints are entered into The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children database.

Three stores will offer the kits and coloring books:

~ 2890 NW Bucklin Hill Rd, Silverdale

~ 253 High School Road NE, Bainbridge Island

~ 900 N. Callow, Bremerton
