The Kitsap County Health District issued a five-day no contact advisory on Tuesday, Aug. 19 for marine waters in the northern portion of Dyes Inlet.

A sewage spill located at the head of Dyes Inlet at Silverdale discharged an estimated 20,000 gallons of untreated sewage directly into Dyes Inlet.

The no contact area is located north of a line between the Tracyton boat launch and the Chico boat launch.

The advisory includes both recreational contact, such as waterskiing, and shellfish harvesting in the area. The health district is posting warning signs at public access points in the closure area. The department already has an ongoing advisory against collecting shellfish in a portion of this area.
