The Kitsap County Fire Chiefs Association, in cooperation with the Kitsap County Fire Marshal's Office and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, recently announced that the outdoor burning ban will be lifted at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5.

The ban, imposed July 17, was put in effect by a combination of low moisture content in area vegetation and stretched firefighting resources as wildfires blazed up and down the West Coast.

Recent rains and cooler temperatures have reduced fire danger, but officials said outdoor burning is the leading cause of wildland fires and urge people to exercise caution by observing outdoor burning regulations.
