Cold weather advisory prompts county officials to open shelter

Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management is activating the county’s

Severe Weather Shelter Plan.

The severe weather shelter will open at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 24 and 6

p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25. The shelter will serve all citizens in the area who require safe overnight shelter where none is available.

The shelter is located at The Communitas Building, 920 Park Ave., Bremerton.

Hours of operation will be 6 p.m.-8 a.m. Once the shelter closes at 9 p.m. for the night, no one will be allowed back in.

Continued activation of the County’s Severe Weather Shelter Plan is contingent upon future weather predictions.
