Two people were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following a crash involving two cars late Monday night off Kingsway Road in Seabeck.

Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue (CKFR) crews were initially dispatched to a second-hand call reporting an unknown collision off Kingsway Road and Gold Creek at 9:57 p.m. Monday. Firefighters upgraded the call at 10 p.m. to a two-car, head-on with people entrapped. Additional resources from CKFR Stations 51, 54, 64 and 65 were deployed.

On-scene firefighters used tools available to raise one of the vehicles high enough to place cribbing and supports underneath and remove one person who was pinned under the SUV. The person was transported to a nearby, private airport and airlifted to Harborview in critical condition.

A second person, in a second vehicle was entrapped. Firefighters were able to remove the man and stabilize him before transporting him to the private, Leisureland airport for airlift to Harborview in serious condition. Both patients were underway to Harborview in less than one hour from the time the 911 call was received.

A third person was evaluated by medical staff on scene.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's office is investigating the accident.
