CKSD levies delayed

The Central Kitsap School District Board of Directors voted to delay its decision on whether or not a school support levy and capital projects levy would be placed on the February 2010 ballot.

Superintendent Greg Lynch presented information to the board regarding the levies, but two members, Christy Cathcart and Eric Greene, said they were not prepared enough to vote on the matter.

The board was given information about the levies Aug. 21, but Cathcart said the information in that board packet did not exhibit the same information sent out Aug. 25, the day prior to the board’s Wednesday meeting.

Greene said he still had questions about the proposed capital projects levy.

Lynch recommended the board accept the levies as proposed and place them on the ballot, but only board president Bruce Richards and Carl Johnson agreed.

Once all members are confident in the information they have on the levies, the board will once again consider adding them to the ballot.
