Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue and Navy Region Northwest Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to a fire Friday morning in the former Northern Wave building at the corner of Mickelberry and Bucklin Hill roads in Silverdale.

The person who called 911 at 6:23 a.m. said Austin Chase Coffee was on fire, but when firefighters arrived, they quickly learned the blaze was in the vacant building across the parking lot, according to CKFR.

Flames from an electrical box reportedly shot 10 feet into the air and a Kitsap County Sheriff's deputy attempted to extinguish the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

Firefighters kept the blaze under control until Puget Sound Energy arrived and secured power to the building.

Fire damage was contained to the northern side and light smoke permeated throughout the structure, which is currently being remodeled for a new tenant.
