Mark Gaines, running for the Central Kitsap School District’s soon-to-be-vacated director position for district 2, and Eric Greene, district 5 incumbent, were still leading in Wednesday’s update to Kitsap County election results.

Gaines, with 8,561 votes, 62.76 percent, still led Robert MacDermid who had received 4,944 votes, 36.24 percent, while Greene held 8,175 votes, 60.39 percent, to Richard Romero’s 5,230 votes, 38.63 percent.

MacDermid effectively, if not officially, withdrew from the race at the end of last month, saying he hoped voters would back Gaines in the election.

The contested Silverdale Water Commissioner Position 1 race had Michael Sechrest leading with 1,914 votes, 53.18 percent, against Randy Biegenwald who had 1,645 votes, 45.71 percent, as of Wednesday’s update.
