Kitsap will enact a Stage 1 burn ban beginning at 4 p.m. today.

With a Stage 1 burn ban, outside fires and burning in fireplaces or wood stoves are not allowed, unless that is your only source of heat, according to the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency.

Fire from natural gas, propane and pellet stoves are allowed during a Stage 1 ban.

The ban was also called for Pierce and Snohomish counties. It will be effective until further notice,
