Pedestrian struck in crosswalk in stable condition

A 68-year-old man struck by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk Monday morning was listed in stable condition.

Washington State Patrol troopers were called to scene near the Ridgetop Boulevard NW onramp to State Highway 303 at about 7:08 a.m. to find the 68-year-old man had suffered a head injury, according to a State Patrol report.

A 26-year-old Silverdale man driving a 2002 Ford pickup truck was heading west on Ridgetop and began to turn onto the highway when he struck the pedestrian.

State Patrol reports say the 26-year-old did not see the pedestrian, walking in a marked crosswalk.

The 68-year-old man, whose hometown was not listed in the report, was taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. At about 10 a.m. he was in the emergency room, listed as stable, according to the hospital.
