Bremerton Symphony

Two young Kitsap musicians have a chance to win a $300 scholarship.

The scholarships, provided by the Bremerton Symphony League, will be awarded in May. To qualify, students must attend either the league summer 2010 orchestral or vocal music camp, live in the West Sound region and currently be a high school junior or younger.

Applications can be sent to the Bremerton Symphony Association office at P.O. Box 996, Bremerton, WA 98337. The deadline is April 6. For more information contact the Bremerton Symphony Association at 360-373-1722.

Bike advocates meeting in Silverdale

Cascade Bicycle Club is holding a workshop Saturday to help cyclists learn to be better advocates for bicycle-friendly communities in advance of the Legislative session.

It’s the third workshop presented by the bike advocacy group, and it takes place Jan. 9 at Silverdale Cyclery, 9242 Silverdale Way NW.

Cyclists will be able to meet fellow riders, learn how to advocate for cyclists in Kitsap County and statewide and participate in discussions.

The day starts at 9:30 a.m. with coffee. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
