A 19-year-old Silverdale man was arrested Thursday after snatching a purse from a customer at a McDonald's restaurant and outrunning the victim and a passer-by.

The suspect, who was caught with intravenous drug paraphernalia, denied taking the 61-year-old woman's purse, which contained about $100 in cash, gift cards and public transportation passes, according to Kitsap County sheriff's reports.

Deputies were called the fast food restaurant at 10444 Silverdale Way NW after witnessing saw the suspect running and the victim giving chase.

A deputy found the suspect hiding. All but one witness were unable to definitively identify him.

The 19-year-old was booked into the Kitsap County jail for investigation of second-degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
