An 81-year-old's quiet night doing a puzzle was interrupted early Tuesday when a 28-year-old man burst through his front door, said he was being chased by gunmen and lied down on the floor.

Kitsap County sheriff's deputies were called to the 1000 block of NE Echo Drive, East Bremerton, when the homeowner called 911, according to reports.

Other residents of the neighborhood reported a male pounding on doors, stating somebody was chasing him with a gun.

The 28-year-old Central Kitsap man was found when he ran up to the deputy and said he needed help. He explained that a conflict with a neighbor had escalated, and in addition to being framed for rape, dozens of armed men were chasing him.

The man was not arrested, but was taken to Harrison Medical Center for an involuntary commitment, the report said.

The deputy observed the man did not smell like alcohol, but said his pupils were restricted.
