Tempelmayr retires from Sound Publishing

Poulsbo — Manfred Tempelmayr, president of Sound Publishing, has announced his retirement effective May 31. Tempelmayr, who has been president since 2000, will leave his position at the end of this month and will stay on for two years in a consulting capacity with Sound Publishing parent company, Black Press.
Tempelmayr has worked for Black Press for more than 25 years and prior to his appointment to Sound Publishing was vice president for the Black Press Vancouver Island community newspapers responsible for newspaper and press operations north of Victoria. He joined Black Press in the early 1980s when he sold his own newspaper, the Cowichan News, to Island Publishers Ltd., a Black Press subsidiary at the time.
“The past few years have been difficult for all newspaper companies and Manfred’s leadership from a business perspective has been greatly appreciated by Black Press,” said Rick O'Connor, Chief Operating Officer of Black Press. “We are pleased he will continue to work with us in a consulting capacity for the next two years as we further transition our company.”
Templemayr and his wife, Pam, plan on keeping their home in Poulsbo, and splitting their time between their vacation home on Gabriola Island near Vancouver Island and Poulsbo.
An announcement will be made shortly regarding a succession plan for Tempelmayr’s position.
