A 20-year-old Silverdale man lost a leg and was airlifted to Seattle after his motorcycle left the road Saturday night in Clallam County west of Port Angeles.

The man was traveling on State Highway 112 at about 5:51 p.m. and was moving too fast to make a left turn and his motorcycle, a 2009 Yamaha, left the road, according to a statement from the Washington State Patrol.

The driver's right leg hit a stop sign and the lower portion was severed.

He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center and was reported in serious condition Monday.
