Deputies arrested a 34-year-old Silverdale man Saturday night after robbing a convenience store for cigarettes.

The man walked into Ridgetop Market, 1195 Northwest Tahoe Lane, at about 10:20 p.m. wearing a bandana over his face and pointed a pistol, "possibly a 9 mm," at the employee, according to reports from the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.

The man asked for a carton of Newport cigarettes and told the employee that he had never done anything like this before.

The owner of the store walked in during the exchange and the suspect pointed the gun at him. The employee gave a carton to the suspect who then left the store.

Sheriff's deputies used dogs to track the suspect and found him near the Santa Fe Ridge Apartments, 1415 Northwest Santa Fe Lane. He admitted to deputies that he committed the robbery.

An airsoft gun and a carton of cigarettes were found in the suspect's backpack.

He was booked into Kitsap County jail on suspicion of first degree robbery with bail set at $50,000.
