In the Central Kitsap School District race for Director, District 2, preliminary results show Mark Gaines leading with 62.35 percent, or 6,715 votes, against Rob MacDermid who has 36.8 percent of the vote, or 3,693 votes.

Earlier this month, MacDermid announced he was endorsing Gaines. He was unable to officially withdraw from the race since ballots had already been printed, but said watching Gaines, over the course of the election, made him realize they agree on virtually every issue.

“The decision for me was intuitive,” MacDermid said. “I think I would be a good board member, but I think he would be a bit better.”

In the CKSD Director District 5 race, board incumbent Eric Greene leads his opponent Richard Romero with 60.55 percent of the vote, or 6,470 votes, versus Romero’s 38.53 percent or 4,117 votes.

For Silverdale Water Commissioner Position 1, Michael Sechrest shows a preliminary lead of 52.84 percent, or 1,507 votes, versus Randy Biegenwald at 46.11 percent, or 1,315 votes.
