Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies are typically seen patrolling local roadways. But today, many of them are serving another important purpose: raising money for Special Olympics.

They’ll be trading in their gear for aprons for today’s Tip-a-Cop at Red Robin in Silverdale. They won’t be taking home their tips, however, instead they’ll be donating them to Special Olympics as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign.

Last year, sheriff’s deputies collected more than $6,500. Help them beat that total. Beyond just beating last year’s tips, help the Silverdale location rake in more than the 31 other Red Robin restaurants in the state also participating. All of the restaurants are in this together, but a little bragging rights never hurt.

All you have to do is grab a bite to eat and tip your “waiter” — maybe even a little more than you normally would seeing as it’s for a good cause. Sheriff’s deputies will be on-hand from noon to 8 p.m. All tips donated today stay in the county and help local Special Olympics athletes. You’ll leave feeling satisfied — not only from a tasty meal, but because you know you are doing your part to give back.
