Pickup truck catches fire near Shari’s in Silverdale
June 26, 2008 · Updated 10:16 AM
Numerous people called 911 at 1 a.m. Thursday to report a pickup truck with flames shooting 10 feet into the trees outside Shari’s Restaurant in Silverdale.
Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews responded to find the small truck with the passenger cab filled with flames. Firefighters pulled hoses from the engine to extinguish the flames and successfully contained the fire to the truck.
The driver of the truck said he smelled smoke, so he pulled into the parking lot to let the truck cool. Before going inside the restaurant, he lifted the hood to check for the source of the smoke, but did not see anything. Fifteen minutes later, the owner was alerted that the truck was on fire.
