New Tacoma Narrows Bridge: Ceremony a waste of tax dollars

I am holding Sen. Rockefeller’s response to my HOTLINE message concerning the $350,000 dollar waste of taxes by the DOT for a ceremony at the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Of course, he believes that it is OK because it is for security measures.

Flash Bulletin — Nobody benefits from a ceremony for a bunch of political hacks getting a photo-op and self-congratulation except the political hacks and the contractor.

Want to celebrate? Open the bridge after the morning rush and then lead the first 500 cars over the bridge toll-free. We do not need the governor, the head of the DOT or any other bureaucrat to lead the group. One state trooper in a marked car would be fine.

Then to show his distain for the common tax payer or the lack of frugality, Rockefeller’s staff spends 63 cents to mail his response when that response contains my e-mail address. Maybe, we should cut the waste and fund schools? Then our future governmental leaders may learn to balance a budget by cutting waste and prioritizing the items supported by taxes.
