Letter: African American students’ meeting with police chief a success

In the wake of last year’s highlight on police killings of black men throughout the United States and last week’s news of a white police officer from Seattle arresting a 70-year-old black man for carrying a golf club, the students of the African American and Caribbean Heritage Club of Olympic College met with Bremerton Police Chief Steven Strachan last week.

Letter to the Editor: Incorporating Silverdale would not lead to higher taxes

In a recent article regarding the Future of Silverdale, it was reported that some members of the audience attending a county sponsored meeting to gather input on Silverdale's future in order to "update" (or revise) the county sub-area plan for the next 20 years, reacted negatively to the phrasing "Within the 20-year planning horizon, Silverdale will be a self-governing city".

No baseless personal attack ever provided one critical dollar of support to the 21,000 developmentally disabled languishing without care on our state rolls or the pressing mental-health and education-funding crises we face.
