The Central Kitsap Babe Ruth baseball league still needs coaches, players and sponsors for the upcoming 2008 season.

Coaches are needed in the senior division (ages 16-18). Coaching requires three evenings per week from now through the beginning of June.

Senior baseball sign-ups take place Monday, April 14, in the Central Kitsap Junior High cafeteria. Players must bring a copy of their birth certificate. Cost is $175.

The league also is still looking for sponsors for its senior division teams.

NABA Westsound meeting

Anyone interested in playing for or managing a team in the National Adult Baseball Association’s Westsound start-up can get more information at a rain-or-shine meeting on Sunday, April 13, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Poulsbo library.

Ozzie Saxon Wrestling Camp

Former state and national wrestling champion and Olympic graduate Ozzie Saxon will host the 2008 Technique/Competition Camp from June 30 to July 3 at OHS.

The camp is for grade 7-12 and a T-shirt is included.

Session one runs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 and session two goes from noon to 2:30 p.m. Instruction will focus on takedown techniques, pinning combinations, escapes, riding techniques and more. Lunch will not be served so campers are encouraged to bring a lunch. Only be the morning session will take place on the last day. A cook-out will follow the morning session on the last day from noon to 2 p.m.

Saxon is now an assistant coach at Ohio University. Fellow OU assistant Kyle Hansen, a former Iowa state champion, will also coach at the camp.

Cost of the camp is $150 and the camp is limited to the first 60 applicants. Application deadline is June 8.
