Jackets finally get league victory
June 11, 2008 · Updated 4:08 PM
SPOKANE Just like last season, it took a few games before the Kitsap BlueJackets posted a win in West Coast Collegiate Baseball League play.
And while Sundays win, a 10-4 drubbing of Spokane (2-2) on the road, snapped the teams three-game skid to start league play, it could always be worse.
After all, it was the RiverHawks that swept Kitsap in Spokane last year.
Ryan Voelkel continued his torrid start, launching his fourth homer of the year. Joey Lind, who he was supposed to replace at the beginning of the year, had a big run-producing double to also contribute to the win.
The BlueJackets (8-4, 1-3) got swept in Moses Lake (3-0), following up Thursdays 4-3 opening-day loss with a 5-2 loss Friday and a 3-1 Saturday defeat.
The BlueJackets played the RiverHawks again Monday and Tuesday, but results of those contests were unavailable at press time.
