Session on dementia
June 11, 2008 · Updated 5:59 PM
On Tuesday, Jan. 16, Pamela Garrity shares the story of her journey as caregiver of her husband, who had dementia.
Garritys presentation, held as part of Alzheimer Awareness Month, takes place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Garden Park Tower, 2825 Clearbrook Rd.
Garrity is a published author and public speaker.
She will describe her husband as the man he used to be, and the signs and symptoms that began to cause her to realize that something was wrong.
She will share her struggle to get a diagnosis and her story of survival on a journey no one had prepared her for.
Admission is free, and the event is open to anyone who is a caregiver of someone with dementia or for those wanting to learn more about the disease and its personal and social consequences.
For more information about the event, support groups or other educational workshops, call Jillian Armit at 604-859-3889.
