"It was bad enough that his Olympic High School boys soccer team had just fallen out of a share of the Olympic League lead. The capper for coach Steve Haggerty was that it just hadn't been a very good game.I think both teams got more involved in the physical stuff, Haggerty said after the Trojans lost a 3-1 decision at Port Angeles, leaving the Roughriders alone atop the league standings. I was hoping it would be a better game, but you need two teams to be involved in that.Olympic (7-1-1) was down 2-1 after Scott Tonge's goal 22 minutes into the second half. But Kyle Trussell sealed the deal for the big, physical Roughriders with his goal at 76:00 and PA held on for the win.Rick Smith and Matt Clark scored in the first half for the 'Riders (8-0-1 and up three points on the Trojans in the standings).PA finished off some chances that they got and that was it, Haggerty said. Every time we made a mistake, they were right there to make us pay for it.Central Kitsap 10, Bremerton 1: The Cougars rebounded from a tough loss to Olympic earlier in the week by erupting offensively, getting two goals each from Chris Burhman, C.W. Mehlenbeck, Brandon Screen and Nick Van Buecken.Olympic 4, Klahowya 0: Joel Nelson had two goals and John Hoogestraat a goal and an assist in the Trojans' shutout victory. Paul Struwe added two assists for Oly.Bremerton 2, Sequim 1: Logan Marsh and Tony Baker scored the Knights' goals as they broke into the win column for the first time in league play. John Mitchell made nine saves for the goalkeeping victory.Boys trackCentral Kitsap got individual wins from Marlon Bascom in the 100, Zach Renzo in the 200, Kevin Pentz in the 800 and Marcus Rutledge in the triple jump and used its superior depth to beat both Bremerton and Sequim in a double dual at Bremerton Memorial Stadium. The Cougars totaled 70 points, while Bremerton clocked in second at 58 and Sequim had 51.Klahowya 36, North Kitsap 29.5: The Class 2A Eagles scored a dual-meet win over 4A North in a meet dominated by Port Angeles.Ryan Williams won the long jump and ran a leg on the Eagles' winning 4x400 relay team, which also included Tristan Manning, Erik Michenko and Mark Moore. Bryon Moore won first-place pole vault points for the Eagles with a vault of 10 feet, 6 inches.Ken Waldo swept the hurdles events with fine times of 15.5 seconds in the 110 highs and 41.6 in the 300 intermediates, but his Olympic came out third in a three-way meet with Bainbridge and Port Townsend. Waldo actually won three events, adding a 5-10 high jump to his day's work. Oly's only other individual winner was Justin Breckel, who heaved the shot 41-9.5 for first-place points.Girls trackCentral Kitsap's Anne Prill won four events, but her Central Kitsap team had to take a back seat to Sequim in a three-way meet at Bremerton. Prill won both sprints, the high jump and the triple jump to help the Cougars to 68 points and a dual-meet win over the Knights (39), while Sequim totaled 85 for the sweep.CK also got wins from Katie Trent in the 3,200, Emily Reichley in the shot put and the 4x200 relay team.Klahowya's Ashley Warriner was a two-event winner in a three-team meet at Port Angeles, winning both the 100 hurdles and high jump. Warriner also ran a leg on the Eagles' winning 4x200 relay with Kyla Zapp, Ally Hoover and Hilary Crisman.Other Klahowya winners were Hoover (800) and Catharine Hoffman (discus).Jordan Kessler (400) and Sarah White (pole vault) were the only individual winners for Olympic in a three-way meet at Port Townsend. BaseballBainbridge jumped on Olympic starter Josh Adams for five first-inning runs and coasted to a 7-2 victory. Adams fared much better at the plate, doubling and going 3 for 4.Central Kitsap 8, Bremerton 4: Mike Kluge homered and drove in three runs for the Cougars, who also got a pair of hits and two RBIs from Scott Lebas.FastpitchCentral Kitsap remained unbeaten in league play with a pair of one-sided wins.Jackie Miller pitched a two-hitter in the opener, which the Cougars won 10-0 in six innings. Jessica Cabato scattered nine Wolves hits in the nightcap, a 10-5 CK victory.Senior catcher Cyndi Roqueta had two home runs and a double, driving in two runs in her 3-for-4 first-game performance.GolfJohn Hausdorf matched par over nine holes at Kitsap Golf and Country Club to lead Central Kitsap to its fourth dual-match victory without a defeat, 64-60 over Bainbridge.Hausdorf, a sophomore, scored 18 points with his even-par round of 35 - one shot better than teammate Dylan Robbins. Matt Reynvaan topped the Spartans with a 39."
