Kirks land on Olympic team

Dana and Tara Kirk became the first sisters to qualify for the U.S. swim team Monday at the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials in Long Beach, Calif.

Tara, 22, a 2000 Bremerton High graduate, earned her position on the team by finishing second in the 100-meter breaststroke Friday. She also attempted to land a spot on the 200 breaststroke team, but didn’t finish in the top two.

Dana, 20, a 2002 Bremerton High graduate, won the 200 butterfly Monday in 2 minutes, 8.86 seconds to qualify for the Olympics.
