Paintball offers summer activity in town
June 11, 2008 · Updated 5:25 PM
Sports fans often complain that summer is the least interesting time of the year for athletics.
After all, college and the majority of professional sports with the exception of baseball are in their offseasons.
Summer days generally provide good weather, though, leaving the option open for outdoor activities.
Enter paintball.
Northwest Paintball opened four years ago in Silverdale on Waaga Way next to Rocket Golf.
My husband has been playing for 15 years and he really enjoys the sport, said Kim Estes, who owns Northwest Paintball along with her husband, Jim.
Northwest Paintball is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $8, which doesnt include any gear or paintballs. Rental rates vary, but can be as high as $40 for a full package. The park also is open to private parties during weekdays.
That's for youth groups, bachelor parties, firefighters and all kinds of groups, Estes said. You have to have at least 12 people.
So if youre looking for a summer activity that offers exercise or fun without taking a ferry ride, paintball may be the solution.
