This is just a reminder that time to get your nominations in for the 2006 CK Reporter Student-Athlete of the Year is almost expired. The deadline to e-mail submissions is at noon this Wednesday.

So far, loyal CK Reporter readers have set the bar at a high level with a heavy emphasis on the student side of our annual honor. Out of the nominees received so far, the median grade point average is a whopping 3.89 which shows that these young men and women are spending as much time cracking the books as they are playing sports.

Even more impressive is that these nominees are well-rounded, grounded individuals. Here’s a sampling of what some of some of you have submitted to editor@centralkitsapreporter.com:

“ ... is one of those athletes that comes in everyday with the attitude how can I get better today. ... As a person he is one that every parent would want their son to be like.”

“Her grace and generous nature touches everyone that knows her. Her willingness to learn is only matched by her desire for success.”

High praise indeed, but that’s the caliber of nominees the judging panel are dealing with so far. You can make their job even harder by sending in your nominations for the CK area’s top student-athlete males and/or females to editor@centralkitsapreporter.com. The clock is ticking. Winners will be announced in the CK Reporter’s June 7 edition.
