CK boys one step closer to state

The Central Kitsap boys basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 4A West Central District tournament with a 76-62 win at home against Rogers of Puyallup Thursday.

The Cougars face No.1-ranked Federal Way (21-2) at 8 p.m. Saturday at Puyallup High School, with the winner clinching a berth to the state tournament, which begins March 4 at the Tacoma Dome.

Seniors Isaiah Thompson (18 points), Brandom Durham (17), Phillip Thomas (14) and Cody Thurmond (10) scored in double figures to lead CK past Rogers.

The loser of the CK-Federal Way game plays a loser-out game at 6 p.m. Feb. 25 at Mount Tahoma High School.
