After opening with a 6-0 win against Kamiaikin, the Central Kitsap fastpitch team was eliminated from the Class 4A state fastpitch tournament with consecutive losses Friday at South End Recreation Area (SERA) in Tacoma.
The Lady Cougars (20-6) secured their first state-playoff victory since 2000 with the win against Kamiakin, moving into the winners bracket behind the pitching of Carolyn Cross, who posted a four-hit shutout. Jenna Bartlett was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base to lead a nine-hit offensive barrage.
But later that day, CK lost 2-1 to Redmond and then was eliminated with 10-1 loss to Emerald Ridge, a team it beat at districts en route to a second-place finish.
Kelso beat Mountlake Terrace 13-2 in the title game.
