Chaos win tournament in Tumwater

The North Kitsap Chaos captured first place in the GU 16 Green Division at the Tumwater Kick in the Grass soccer tournament last weekend.

The Chaos went 2-0-1 in the preliminary round before defeating the SSFC G93 White team, 1-0, in the championship match.

Coached by Scott Foster and Tom Pecosky and managed by Marybeth Foster, the under-16 girls soccer team is comprised of players from North Kitsap as well as Central Kitsap.

Team members include Central Kitsap High School students Samantha Borson and Marilyn Prosser and Olympic High School student Teresa Morrell.

Additional team members are Alexandra Ekonomakis, Rachel Fisk, Lindsey Foster, Elizabeth Lawrence, Whitney Martin, Audrey McHugh, Kristi Mellum, Naomi Morgan, Sara Nash, Sydnie Pecosky, Samantha Trevino, Brooke Tschida and guest player Jocelyn Wright.

Chaos’ next tournament is the Strawberry Classic July 30-Aug. 2 in Marysville.

Tornadoes storm through Olympia tournament

The Tracyton Soccer Club GU13 Tornados took first place in the Kick in the Grass tournament last weekend in Olympia. The girls on the team, which is comprised of players from both Bremerton and Central Kitsap, are Emily Hickey, Emily Baumgartner, Miah Back, Ally Galeski, Taegen Hill, Jenna McKenzie, Amy Matchell, Chloe Parsons, Brielle Millermon, Tiffani Ferrell, Ellie Sullivan, Tessa Wood, Keyera Gaulden, Michayla Strange and Emma Coughlin. The team is coached by Rich Hickey and Gary Baumgartner.

CK golf scramble

Community members are invited to participate in the second annual Gridiron Golf Scramble benefiting the Central Kitsap High School football team.

The event is at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Kitsap Golf & Country Club. Cost is $60 for members and $110 for non-members and includes greens fees, range balls and a barbeque and auction.

The CKHS football team advanced to the Class 4A state semifinals, finishing third in the state.
