Central Kitsap High School senior baseball player Drew Vettleson has been named the 2009-10 Gatorade Player of the Year.
He won the same award for the 2008-09 season.
"Drew is getting everything he deserves," Central Kitsap coach Bill Baxter said.
Vettleson, an ambidextrous pitcher and outfielder who has committed to Oregon State University, is projected to be drafted as high as the late first round or early second round in the June 7 Major League Draft.
He hit .490 with seven home runs and 29 RBI during the regular season, leading the Cougars to their four straight berth to the Class 4A state tournament.
Vettleson hasn't said whether he would go pro if given the chance, but Baxter believes the star would if the circumstances were right.
"I think if he goes high enough he will probably lean toward going," Baxter said. "He's in a nice position because he has a backup plan."
